Adobe Firefly is a family of generative AI models integrated across the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, offering text-to-image generation, generative fill, generative expand, text effects, and vector recoloring. What distinguishes Firefly from competitors like Midjourney and DALL-E is its training exclusively on Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content, and public domain material, making its outputs safe for commercial use without copyright concerns. Firefly is embedded directly into Photoshop as Generative Fill and Generative Expand, into Illustrator for vector generation, and into Adobe Express for quick social media content. The standalone Firefly web app allows anyone to generate images, apply text effects, and create templates without needing Creative Cloud subscriptions. Firefly Image 3, the latest model, produces photorealistic results with improved prompt adherence, better text rendering, and superior composition. Adobe has also introduced Structure Reference and Style Reference features that let users guide generation with existing images for consistent brand aesthetics.
